Meet Dan Tomkiewicz, the heartbeat behind Ignite Athletic Performance. A retired college pitcher that played for Olympic College before transferring to play at a four-year university in Nebraska. During his sophomore year of college Dan underwent Tommy John surgery and while rehabbing, realized his passion for strength and conditioning athletes.

He spent a summer at Cressey Sports Performance as a client and underwent a 12 week strength and conditioning program which took him from 190 pounds and an 83 MPH fastball to 210 pounds and up to 92 MPH. The following summer he went to Driveline in Kent and this was when he hit his highest velocity of 95 MPH. Dan became obsessed with training and eventually got his degree in exercise science from York College and started his coaching career at Olympic College as the pitching coach.

Since then, he has worked in personal training for 3 years and has run strength and conditioning for Olympic College for 2 years. With this experience, he has been able to hone in his programming to get proven results through different implementations such as triphasic training, tracking and using Velocity Based Training (VBT) as well as Reflexive Performance Reset to train the central nervous system to perform at higher and higher levels.

Having a proven system is the difference between working out and training and the aim at Ignite AP is to provide athletes with systems to grow their physical qualities in their sport.

Ignite Performance

Ignite Athletic Performance redesigns athletic training by employing a cutting-edge, science-based approach to develop athletes of all levels through individualized programming and small class sessions to learn how to lift properly, safely and progress athletes to perform at a higher level. Ignite AP’s mission is to commit to creating a dynamic culture focused on developing young leaders within the community while improving physical performance. We believe that athletic excellence goes hand-in-hand with personal growth and character development. Through our comprehensive training programs, mentorship initiatives, and community engagement activities, we aim to nurture not just superior athletes, but well-rounded individuals who will positively impact their peers and the broader community.

Ignite AP uses innovative training techniques, cutting-edge technology, and dedication to holistic athlete development. Athletic development is the cornerstone of what we do and over time we have been able to create a system that gets results at the youth and collegiate level. We will be offering class structures that are in place to offer youth athletes the ability to learn the basics of lifting safely and how to progressively load volume to gain strength, power and speed.

With different levels of classes, there will be opportunities that suit each athlete for where they are at. The beginner level is designed for ages 10-12 or anybody who has no experience in the weight room. Intermediate classes are for those youth athletes ages 12-15 who have the basics of lifting down and are ready to start loading exercises and gaining strength through increasing motor unit recruitment and coordination. Our expert classes are for athletes ages 14-16 who are ready to take on traditional barbell lifts in a safe environment and learn how to properly perform and grow in olympic lifting. As well as our classes, we will be offering individualized programming.

Individual programming is designed for experienced high school athletes who will receive a comprehensive movement assessment and a lifting program to follow at their own pace under coach supervision in a small group setting.
